In ATE Project Year 2 (2016-2017) collaborators began case studies that draw from previous research expertise and speak to emerging practices in the transnational field linking Canada and the Philippines. During our team meeting at York University in December 2015, we made a matrix of institutions operating in the transnational space and alternative practices and processes. Out of this mapping, we narrowed in on many potential case studies and research directions. The following 5 case studies were chosen for this year:
- Alternative Planning & Development led by Nora Angeles and PLAN 545 Studio Abroad
- Transnational Alumni Relations led by Marla Asis
- Youth Economic Solidarities and Subjectivities led by Philip Kelly and Melissa Gibson
- Gawad Kalinga “Give Care” Movement led by Andre Ortega and Nikki Ramos
- Gift-Commodity Entanglements led by Lynne Milgram
For ATE Project Year 3 (2017-2018) several new projects have been undertaken:
- Diaspora Philanthropy and Volunteering in Post-Yolanda Tacloban City led by Nora Angeles and Mary Grace Agapito
- Alitaptap Collective led by Kenneth Cardenas, Chaya Ocampo Go and Christopher Chanco
- Remittance Behavior using Home and Host Country Data led by Thea Basilio and Jeff Ducanes
